WIRELESS ROCK AND AVALANCHE DETETCTION SYSTEM

Cautus Geo has unveiled an innovative multi-sensor system designed for early warning of rockslides and avalanches. This cutting-edge solution offers:

  • Exceptionally low power consumption.
  • Real-time data processing and the ability to filter out false events using a trigger logic algorithm.
  • Wireless radio signals that transmit avalanche alerts to activate traffic lights.
  • Proven success through installation and testing in real-world conditions in Norway.
  • Comprehensive data access via Cautus Web

Based on experience with our geophone-based system we have developed a new multi-sensor-based system that register and analyse ground vibration. The system consists of 3 sensor nodes which register vibration in 3 axes with different sensors like geophone and accelerometers.

The sensor nodes continuously send data to the HUB which analyse the data in real time. Based on analysis the system could send out alarms and information about the avalanche or rock fall. Due to the multiple sensors and high time synchronization the system could differentiate between avalanche and rock fall events and vibration classified as noise.

The system is developed with several alternative communication alternatives. This could be radio for local communication for road closing and 2-way communication through mobile network for transfer of larger amount of data for avalanche or rock fall insights.

The HUB and sensor nodes are developed for low power consumption and operated by battery and solar cell.
