Groundwater level monitoring stations installed at “Vestfoldbanen”!

We began instrumenting wells and ponds on the “Vestfoldbanen” between Larvik and Porsgrunn in Norway in August.

Major parts of the new railway will go through tunnels. The rail authority wants to monitor groundwater and surface water during the construction period.

The monitoring program will take place from 2012 to 2018. It consists of sensors (pressure sensors and VW piezometers) installed in wells and ponds, which are connected to monitoring stations with telemetry that send data automatically for continuous monitoring.

The monitoring will allow for control of groundwater throughout the construction period. Water level and rainfall data are now presented continuously in the Cautus Web solution.

The installation has gone as planned, despite challenging terrain.
